“There’s no time like the present.” This old saying is especially true right now as the Marion County Builders Industry Association presents the 2008 Fall Showcase of Homes. This year Curington Contracting is showcasing two beautiful model homes: the Jamestown II, located in the brand new Alderbrook community on East Silver Springs Blvd., and the Wellington V Country Edition, located in scenic Legendary Trails. The team at Curington Contracting invites you to visit our model homes and see how we can turn your dream home into reality. Don’t forget to take advantage of the Fall Showcase discounts being offered for a limited time only. See you there!

Curington Construction & G2 Energy Team Up
In a move which will bring power to many homes across Central Florida, Curington Construction is teaming up with G2 Energy, based in Atlanta, to build a power generating facility alongside the Marion County Landfill which will capture the methane produced by the breakdown of rubbish in the landfill and convert it into useable energy.
First-Time Home Buyers Tax Credit
Prospective first-time homebuyers now have a significant financial incentive to explore the opportunities available in today’s housing market. H.R. 3221, the Housing and Economic Recovery Act of 2008 allows first-time home buyers to take a $7,500 tax credit from the purchase of a single-family home, townhome or condominium apartment.
Any homebuyer who has not owned a home during the past three years and is a U.S. citizen who files taxes is eligible to participate in this program. To qualify, buyers must actually close on the sale of the home on or after April 9, 2008 and before July 1, 2009.
This is a great opportunity for Marion County families looking to build their new homes and the Curington Team is waiting to help them do it. For more information visit the Federal Housing Tax Credit website http://www.federalhousingtaxcredit.com.
CommentJanuary 9, 2008 – The Marion County Building Department has released it’s annual statistics report for 2007 naming Curington Contracting, Inc as one of Marion County’s “Top 10″ Volume Residential Builders. In fact, CCI came in at number three for total number of residential construction permits pulled in the county, moving up from number six in 2006. Marion County Growth Management Bureau reports that, “while new single-family construction in 2007 was not at the level of previous “boom” years, the building industry continued to be a primary source of both economic growth and jobs in Marion County.” Congratulations to the Curington Team for its hard work and commitment to excellence.
CommentCurington Construction is proud to announce the completion of a Fellowship Hall addition to First Baptist Church of Ft. McCoy’s worship facility. This 3,500 square foot building provides a basketball court, kitchen, storage area, and men’s & women’s restroom facilities. The team at Curington Construction appreciates First Baptist Church for allowing us to be part of their expansion; it has been a pleasure to serve this congregation in their construction needs.

The 2008 Parade of Homes was an encouraging experience for Curington Contracting, Inc. We experienced very steady traffic in all five of the homes we listed in the Parade, especially on the weekends. People came to visit for all sorts of reasons; some were interested in building immediately, some needed to sell current homes before getting started, others were simply curious about what we had to offer.
By and large, the feedback we received was very positive. We entered two smaller homes (the Astor and Clermont) in the Summercrest subdivision and our guests really seemed to enjoy the cozy atmosphere and practical, accommodating design of the homes. Many of them could envision decorating those homes with their own furnishings and settling into the peaceful atmosphere of Summercrest.
We also entered a home (the Jamestown II) in the new Alderbrook development off of Hwy 40 near Silver Springs that was very well received. We heard many compliments about the spacious, airy feel of the home and how inviting a space it would be to entertain in. Also our guests could easily appreciate the beauty of the Alderbrook neighborhood, with its wooded lots, and the convenience of living in such a central location.
Visitors especially enjoyed our two homes (the Windemere and Wellington V) entered in the exclusive Legendary Trails community on SE 80th Street near the Country Club of Ocala. They seemed especially pleased by the mix of elegance and warmth both homes reflected. In the Windemere guests particularly enjoyed the large covered lanai and the triple pocket sliding glass door that invited the outdoors right into the living room. The Wellington V was a great success in many aspects, from the luxurious master bath to the thoughtful details of the kitchen; but by far the most popular feature was the fully loaded home theatre custom designed by Total Audio Video Systems. It was so much fun to watch the surprise break across our guests’ faces as they stepped into the theatre and just stared for several seconds before finding a seat in one of the six leather recliners and settling in “just to watch for a few minutes.” What a treat to see our visitors already making themselves at home!
Over all, this year’s Parade of Homes has been a much needed boost for our staff and suppliers. We are encouraged by the comments and compliments we have received and by the traffic that continues to come our way. We are hopeful that all of this new interest marks a positive shift in our community’s home building industry for 2008.
CommentAt the Wellington V, a Curington Contracting model that will be featured in the parade, one of the exciting features is the Theater Room. From the moment you step inside, you know you’re in for a treat. Sink into the soft leather recliner, lean back and be prepared for a true cinematic experience, in the comfort of your own home!
The Theater Room features an HDTV formatted Cinema Contour Screen by DA-LITE ideal for watching sports or playing video games, while movie lovers will enjoy the vibrant, dynamic images producing a refined “Hollywood picture quality.” The screen’s surface is a high contrast perforated fabric that enables the system’s front speakers to be custom installed directly behind the screen, the true origin of sound.
Audiophiles will not be disappointed either. A Yamaha Digital Home Theater Receiver with Cinema DSP drives the surround sound system that features the Virtuoso D-series by Sonance. The in-wall and in-ceiling speakers produce a stunning performance, incorporating features such as a pivoting Sonic Eye that directs sound at the listener. The package is further enhanced by the 12″ Sonance Cabinet Subwoofer discreetly hidden in the custom equipment cabinet and delivering 250 Watts of room-shaking bass!
This 14′ x 22′ theater seats 6 with 2 rows of 3 oversized chairs that feature shared armrests and cup holders. The second row is on an elevated lighted platform for optimum viewing. Plenty of extra room is available “down in front” for the kids to add gaming rockers. Graceful arches and elegant sconces line the walls and enhance the cinema’s “stage”. And, no theater would be complete without exquisite velvet drapes puddling on the floor.
Another feature in Curington’s Wellington V Theater Room is a Sonance DAB1Distributed Audio System and a Yamaha 5-Disc CD Changer, which provides up to four music sources (including a built-in AM/FM tuner) to 6 areas throughout the home, with independent controls in each area via a lighted keypad. The keypad allows the homeowner to select a music source as well as adjust volume and control components.
The AV Integration and Cinema Design is a collaborative partnership of Curington Contracting, Total Audio Video Systems (www.TAVSinc.com), and Diane’s Designs. The Theater Room in the Wellington V model by Curington.

Upon receiving the news that Curington Contracting had been recognized with this award Dan Curington made the following announcement to the CCI team:
“We heard a rumor that CCI had won the Builder of the Year award from the Marion County Building Industry Association and we now have the plaque to prove it. So it is now official, Curington Contracting Inc. is the “2007 Builder of the Year”. The plaque has ‘Dan Curington’ listed above Curington Contracting Inc. But we know that the award is for the company as a whole; not Dan, not John, but the ‘Team.’
John and I are very proud of all of you and this award is something we should all be proud of as a Team because it truly takes a Team of hard working individuals to get the job done, and get it done with Quality and Value.
“Thank You All for making us proud.”
